Frigidaire fpdf4084kf range, trying to convert to NG
#1

Does some one have a set on the bench that are surplus out of a converted stove? That model uses orifices that are the same for a number of makers. Barring that, can someone give me the proper drill size of each of the 3 sized orifices so that I can drill out the L/P ones to the proper sizes?
With kindest regards,, thanking everyone in advance for any help,
Icarus

I have the L/P orifices,, I just need to know the drill sizes,, or better yet source a set of NG orifices. I should also note,, I would like to get a copy of the conversion instructions as they don't seem to be available on line.

PS Thanks everyone for your help..

you seem capable and willing so I will tell you...
obviously, since the unit is LP now, the existing orfices are smaller than NG orfices, giving you some room to experiment.
Generally, LPs are about half the size of their NG cousins. With a good numbered set of bits, you could experiment with each one till you find the proper size. Just flip the regulator back to NG and have some fun!

So, by my calcs from here:
http://www.joppaglass.com/burner/lowp_chrt.html
ORIFICE SIZE (DRILL SIZE) DRILL SIZE Decimal Equivalent Natural Gas Natural Gas LP Gas ↓ Gas Pressure→ 4" WC 7"WC 11" WC Gas use in Btus/hr Gas use in Btus/hr Gas use in Btus/hr 75 0.021 1200 1600 3080 70 0.028 2125 2825 5475 65 0.035 2240 4400 8560 60 0.040 4350 5750 11175 3/64" 0.047 5975 7900 15360 55 0.052 7350 9710 18890 50 0.070 13300 17590 34250
So the 13K burners would have a ~ .040 hole, the 9100 should have ~.035, and the 5k should be ~.028,, does this sound about right? (For L/P)
Therefore, I could use the current .040 for the the 5k unchanged (may be a bit too small)
Then use the .035 for the 9k burner,, and then drill one out to .070 for the 13k for NG
Does that sound about right?
Also, not having done a Frigidaire, and not having the paper (or on line instructions) does the regulator just change from NG to L/P with a flip like most common stove regs?
Once again,, thanks for any and all help,
Icarus
Sorry, the chart didn't copy, if you click the link there is a pretty simple chart showing drill sizes (decimal eq) and BTU range with both 4", 7" and 11" WC gas.

Thank you ever so much. The web is a wonderful resource,, when people are willing to help. (Kurtis et al too!)
So the PNs you provide are the LP orifices. Any idea on what the hole size is for either the L/P or NG?

Thanks once again,

Finally, how precise does the drill size have to be? Is one or two drill sizes either way matter all that much?
Once again,
Thanks for the help, with kindest regards,
Icarus

Anytime something is measured in hundredths of mm...is pretty crucial.
