Kenmore dryer (110.66912692) shuts off after 10 minutes. After running for 8 minutes, the dryer starts to make an unusual noise and gets louder until it shuts off. I can restart the dryer after about 20 minutes with same results. I read through some FAQs and accomplished a few checks. I would appreciate if someone would validate my diagnosis or tell me what to check next. First I checked the exhaust vent/vent hood/and airflow from the back. . .no obstructions. No obstructions either in the lint duct assembly. The drum seems to not be restricted from movement or misaligned. After the dryer stopped, I touched the motor and had to pull away after 3 seconds due to heat. I believe the motor is bad. Thanks.

yes ... common problem
remove the Belt and try tuning the Motor Shaft by hand
Does it turn easily, smoothly ?

I removed the belt and the shaft turns relatively easy. I ran the dryer (no clothes) and it shut down after about 13 minutes this time (noise occurred 30 seconds before it shut down). Motor was still too hot to touch more than 3 seconds and the shaft moved as easy as before I ran the dryer. Thanks.

should be able to "spin" the Shaft and it will continue to turn somewhat ...

With the belt strung on the motor and drum, open the door and turn the drum by hand. Does it about break your arm trying to turn it? If so, there's a drum roller problem. If not, replace the motor.

you could try running the Dryer in an Air-Fluff (no-heat) cycle with the Belt removed,
but you'll have to hold the Belt Switch (somehow)
to see how long it runs and if the Motor still gets hot.

Sorry for the delay. Turning the drum by hand was relatively easy. Dryer run in Air-Fluff cycle with belt removed resulted in dryer stopping after only approx 15 minutes. Motor was not too hot.
