Cross reference charts for compressor compatibility
#1

OK here goes.
I purchased a Maytag French door refrigerator; model MFD2560HES with a Tacumsa tp141-ar-229-b8 compressor, from a local civilian on craigslist.
It needs a new compressor.
I have most of the supplies I need, i.e. R134a, nitrogen tank, acetylene b tank, silfos 15.
I am currently pursuing a set of gauges and vacuum pump on eBay.
My question is this… replacement compressors for this unit are readily available on all the repair parts sites. I would like to try to find one (cheap) on eBay but need to figure out which ones are compatible with the one I have.
What are the key specs I should look for?
Is there any kind of cross reference chart for compressor compatibility?
I know it is a somewhat difficult and technically challenging procedure, to replace a refrigerator compressor. But because of my background I believe I am up to the task.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Pilgrim

1) MFD2560HES rated 730 BTUH 60 Hz / 125 watts... MFD2560HES
... Tacumsa tp141-ar-229-b8 compressor
2) compressor model number is right below your posted number
What's the reason for Compressor replacement ?

Locked rotor with LRA above 20a.
I think I will be able to match those specs pretty easily with other compressor mfg.
Another question:
Can a PTCS_CR compressor harness arrangement be modified to run a RSIR compressor?

1) that seems to be a Freezer Compressor.. I believe the compressor number for the Frigidaire 5304475098 kit is DGH66C94RAU.
... Tacumsa tp141-ar-229-b8 compressor?
Evaporating temp. range: -35 ゚C to -5 ゚C (-31 ゚F to 23 ゚F)
2) that's not a Compressor model number
the model number is right below that number
why not just buy the recommended replacement Compressor ?

Cost
I bought this SS French Door Maytag Ref. with the knowledge that it needed a new compressor. If I can’t fix it on the cheap my wife is going to kill me. I have all the tools and supplies necessary to do it, (I acquired them on eBay and the local Craigslist) I already had an Acetylene B Tank set up, and a Nitrogen tank with gauges. I just bought a used manifold gauge set and should be receiving my new vacuum pump shortly. And coolest of all… my new micron gauge. The way things are going I am going to have more into this project than I would have if I bought a used scratch and dent. Hell man I have an associates (asshole) degree and like my wife says my balls are bigger than my brains. OK that is way too much information… Sorry.
If I can figure out which ones I can use as a replacement I can save myself well over half the price.Well that is what I am trying to do anyway.
Could you also help me with the difference between:
RSIR, CSIR, PTCS_CR & CSR
Is the difference between these designations a matter of just the wiring harness or are there integral differences in the compressors themselves. In other words would I be able to rearrange the wiring to accommodate each type.
It looks like I may to have to bight the bullet and do what I am supposed to do, and buy the designated replacement compressor.
Which one would you suggest?
I really do thank you for taking the time to answer my amateur questions.

(maybe someone else on here is)
I don't know the differences between RSIR, CSIR, PTCS_CR & CSR, etc ..
Please post the Fridge Compressor model number
... and can you obtain R134 in your State with no problem ?

Could you also help me with the difference between:
RSIR, CSIR, PTCS_CR & CSR
RSIR = Resistance Start, Induction Run
CSIR = Capacitance Start, Induction Run
CR = Capacitor Run (aka - split phase)
CSR = Capacitor Start and Run
You need to have an RSIR compressor, since your original was not equipped with a starting capacitor - the capacitor on your unit is a running capacitor, but the motor does not require it to operate, it was added to cause a slight decrease in power consumption. None of the Split Phase compressors will work for you (CR,CSR) in that application. Many things are to be considered other than compressor ratings, such as plumbing sizes arrangements and physical size and mounting of replacement.
Before you jump too deeply, check the tubing on the fridge that runs just in front of the compressor inside the drain pan - if it appears all corroded you could be in for big trouble - that is a very common failure with those and has prompted many a landfill deposit.

In for a penny in for a tongue lashing L
The tpg1370yxa has a PTCS_CR type motor, that was not one of the ones you described.
Is the PTCS_CR motor just a more efficient RSIR?
“check the tubing on the fridge that runs just in front of the compressor inside the drain pan”
I do not see any signs of corrosion. What would be the cause of this condition?
Again thanks tons for the input.

Wouldn't it just be able to handle a higher load, e.g. 10 children?
