Kenmore 110.66862500 tripped breaker, shot sparks, now dead

Put a load of laundry in the dryer at lunch today and tio my dismay the on button did nothing. Checked the breaker and it had tripped. I reset the breaker. Then when I powered the dryer on it ran for about a half a second then three or four sparks shot out of it (I beleive in the aread of the timer knob). She is now dead.
Thoughts?

Um, Turn that breaker back off. Get a visual on that timer, it probably wont be looking too great.

The overload may have been caused by a shorted Heater Element.
