I was drying cloths just like normal and right by the base of the plug it started sparking and shut off. Ive read alot of forums with improper wiring, but I dont know if this is the case.

It will be the case.
Time for a new dryer cord.
Also,turn off breaker to dryer,remove the outlet cover and inspect the outlet terminals.
It most likely needs replacing too.
The terminals will be loose and scorched.

has this Dryer worked OK for you up till now at this locaton ?
Dryer may also have a Heating Element that is shorted to chassis (ground)

The dryer has been FLAWLESS... Now if it is the case with a new cord, Im assuming the terminal that holds the wires needs replacing as well?

Maybe.maybe not. I am referring to the terminals inside the wall outlet. The wall outlet may need changing.

whirlpool has a kit with 3 terminals with a foot of wire and wire nuts, thats what i use regardless of brand to fix this problem
