Surprisingly the drum was fine and in great shape.....the bearings failed probably due to a bad seal.

OK I was able to salvage the mechanical seal's # (SP 50x10/106x10/13.5), but the bearings #'s were soo far gone I could not get any #'s off of them.......has any one tackled this problem?

The inside seal is a Bit@H TO FIND!! I went to 5 different places and no luck!

Looks like I might have to buy it online...still have some feelers out there so I will give it to the end of the week.

Sounds like the guy did his homework .....Any thing to improve the bottom line.... thax for the results ...........

Yea I learned alot on this project:

1. How to read a caliper
2. Where to find cheap bearings locally
3. How to find cheaper tub seals.
4. How to replace a tub bearing (it was my 1st one)

Now the washer is up and running w/out any issues.

Well guys and gals sorry to say water has worked past the seal........one of the bearing is starting to have a slight roar.

I dont know its the seal or the bearing.

I will be tearing into it in the coming days. I will keep you posted.

If it's the seal....... it only lasted less than 6 months

Ok guys and gals I might have jacked the install of the bearing seal the 1st time so gonna need some input before I move forward.......As you can see the same type of seal came in thru a different vendor (Ebay ....$5). So now my question is did I install the seal wrong causing failure......??? Before you answer, the seal outer wall from what I remember is tapered (could be wrong) to accept the tub to match. So I do believe I did install the seal right but since this was my 1st bearing job human error maybe the contributing factor.

I would have just replaced the whole rear half of the outer tub and been done with it without having any callbacks.

Actually this one is ours....I fig I would practice on our machine.

Plus when I can get BOTH bearings and the seal for less than $15 vs $80 from the site mentioned on post #4 and all I am out is my time and gain experience.... I'd say knowledge is power over these bearing problems.
