Dishwasher tub crack repair

6 posts in this topic

Somehow the heating element has caused a burn mark in the tub of the dishwasher. A very small hairline crack has developed. It is about 1/4" long but water is leaking through enough to cause a problem. I needed to know what specific type of high temperature epoxy to buy or any other solutions would be welcome. I am familiar with using a gasket and screw but would really like to avoid making the crack worse by driving a screw through the tub.

A high temp RTV sealant will work.

Does this crack originate from the entry hole for the heating element or is it somewhere else?

There are a few models that have been recalled for this problem. So, as Kdog pointed out, the model number would sure help...

Model # DU1100XTPQ6

Serial # FS5213477

The tub is still under warranty so the next step is to see if Whirlpool will step up and actually get these people a new tub.

Thank you for all your responses.
