Frigidaire indicator light and switch problems

Also, I found that the switches for the large burners were not working so I replaced them. When I did, and turned the large elements on, they were working but when I turned on the small ones at the same time, it short circuited and sparked. Can anyone explain what could possibly be wrong?

1) the same symptoms before Switch replacements ?... the indicator light that tells that the stove is on, is continuously on,
... switches for the large burners were not working so I replaced them. When I did, and turned the large elements on, they were working but when I turned on the small ones at the same time, it short circuited and sparked
2) sounds like either wrong Switches or wired wrong ..
