Kenmore commercial dryer starts then stops after 2-3 revolutions

6 posts in this topic

I have a Kenmore coin operated Gas dryer that starts to spin but after starting it turns only for 2-3 turns before stopping again. I found the rubber coming off of the bottom roller and it seems hard to turn. Is there an overload fuse in the motor or anywhere else that resets itself ?

What other issues can cause this ? The reason I do not suspect the motor is that it is able to do a couple of turns when it first starts up. There is quite a bit of debris in the dryer, can this cause this kind of a problem ?

model number ?

sounds like the Thermal Overload inside the Motor is tripping due to overloaded torque required to turn the Drum.

Model number is 110.67622600

The drum rotates OK in one direction but not the other -- is that normal ?

When it stops, can you re-start it right away ?

Remove the Belt (and / or Drum) and try running the Dryer ..

If it stops, feel the Motor.. is it hot ?

It can start right away, but only goes for a couple of revs again. I will do the other tests this weekend. Thanks for your help.
