Noisey Frigidaire washer GLTF1249

5 posts in this topic

Loud noise just started, drum is definetly rubbing when you spin by hand. From other posts sounds like this is common with this washer. Drum should be under warrenty but repair man says we need both the front and rear outer drums as well. He did not take it apart I guess he is going on experience?

Any thoughts? Is this really necessary?

Total cost minus inner drum is more than a new washer!

Thanks Dave

the rubbing sound you are hearing is the basket hitting the outer tub, when it did this at high speed spin it damaged the tubs, plus when you pull out the cruddy basket the seal in the rear tub bearing will not want to seal again on a new basket shaft so you will be doing it twice if you do just the basket, this is why most professional repair people will quote the basket and outer tubs
