chances are the Compressor Start Relay is bad...
it tries to start, but can't
Depending on the first two characters of your serial number,
MotherBoard & Evaporator Fan (if bad)
are coivered under a service recall.

i was looking at the condenser fan motor and i have no clue on how to remove it without breaking it. i can't access the two philip head screws on the front of the plastic housing without removing the fan blade and that would require me to removed the condenser and compressor. The board was not providing enough voltage to drive the fan motor. I woukd also change the fan motor also. Sometimes it takes out the boards ove time. Let the uni sit and cool down if is that hot. If i still does not start, go with reg above and check that compressor overload/relay.

ok i need to get your part nomenclature right. they say the above is a start capacitor. is that the "RUN RELAY YOU SPEAK OF"?
They call this one the overload relay. this is the one that makes noise when i shake it. am i looking at the right thing that you guys are talking about?
i'm just a little confused because a capacitor and a relay are two different things.

maybe... PFS22SIBSS
PFS22SISBSS ?
6 OHMs is OK
if one pair reads 6 OHMs
and if another pair = 6 OHMs
then the last pair should read 12 OHMs

that's not what GE customer service said when i called to see if they would send me a free mother board. i mentioned the recall and the CS person said that my GE Profile was not on a recall even thou she never asked for my serial number!!!!!!!The other option is to replace the Start Relay I posted.
serial number is included in the service recall
do you think i can get them to reimburse me for the motherboard i replaced?
ok so i just order the overload relay. not the start capacitor. i'm gonna send back the condenser fan motor so i can save 70 bucks. once i changed the MB the fan ran OK.
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP SO FAR. i'm so glad i have been trained on how to read a multi meter this would have cost me 3x as much if i had called a tech out to troubleshoot.
