I've got a Bosch SHX46A05UC dishwasher on which the rinse agent has stopped dispensing.

I've tried cleaning the area around and inside the rinse dispenser cover, to no effect.

I believe I have to remove the stainless steel outer door shell to get at the back of the dispenser inside the door to remove the electrical connectors and release the unit.

At that point I'm hoping I can clean it with a mixture of vinegar/water and put it back in. That seem reasonable?

What I'm not sure of is how to remove the outer door cover. There are about 10 or 12 torx screws on the inside perimeter of the door - do I remove all of those to take the outer SS shell off, or ? Any issues to watch out for when removing/replacing the SS shell, or the dispenser unit itself?

I've looked for a repair manual but haven't found one yet, of anyone has any info I'd really appreciate it...

Thanks for your reply. :)

Not sure what other numbers are needed to determine the dispenser. The model number I gave is the entire model number I have on the documentation.

We have an orange sticker that either came off the dishwasher or the paperwork that came with it...it has:

Model number as already noted
SO#
Serial #
Another number that starts w/"TS"

Which of those is required to determine the exact dispenser? Pics of the dispenser below.

And: Are you implying that there is no fix for this issue and I'm going to need to replace the dispenser?

model number should be from the appliance to be sure of the correct Dispenser...
The Dispenser could be tested..
some electrical tests would need to be done..

Thanks...I am now an apprentice (field promotion). :)

Full SN from the sticker on the dishwasher is: SHX46A05UC / 14. Below that is another number: FD8303 01458. Hopefully that helps identify the correct dispenser. <EDIT> Thanks for confirming the part above.</EDIT>

I went through the document you provided the link to (thanks) and it appears to remove to remove the front panel I have to remove the lower six torx screws (three on each side) on the inside of the door and slide the panel down...the four torx screws at the top on the inside appear to secure the control panel. That sound right?

And to confirm - you're saying the existing unit is likely a goner and must be replaced? I did find a statement in the manual in troubleshooting on the rinse dispenser having issues that refers to replacing an actuator: I've also seen posts in some other searches talking about cleaning, but nothing appears clogged on the rinse dispenser part of the assembly that I can see.

Detergent or rinse
aid won't dispense
properly. Dispenser actuator (A2) failed. Turn off dishwasher and replace actuator.

Thanks for the assistance.

1) edited previous part number link
2) sorry, I'm not a Bosch Master, maybe someone else on here is ..
3) could be, if the Actuators and Levers are in place.. could also be a bad Controller
some electrical tests may need to be done

Yes, remove the lower 6 or 8 screws from the inner door to remove panel...
does the detergent cup open in the cycle properly? If so, Prolly a broken linkage internal to the dispenser...same actuator for both...

Great, thanks!

Yes, the detergent part works fine, just the rinse doesn't release. I'll have to see if I can order an actuator then.

Do you happen to know the part number or name that will lead me to it...I'm looking here, on this page:

OK...don't want to do this twice, so I'm going to replace the unit. The washer is over 9 years old, so probably better to do the whole thing anyway.

Thanks very much for the help/advice!
