Trane central cooling unit icing up and not cooling

We live in Florida where humidity and heat rule in June. Our A/C unit stopped cooling today, and when I looked into the fan unit outside I saw the tube which runs off of the red tank----I'm thinking freon tank?----is coated in a very thick layer of ice. Any ideas? Its blazingly hot, and I know we will likely need to replace it soon anyway, but this is a very inconvenient time. Anyone have any ideas for a temporary fix? Thank you in advance.

I feel a bit like an idiot. I realized that our air filter needed changing and put it on shopping list. Unfortunately, we kept missing that item. So, the filter was really clogged. Once we cleared out the dust, the A/C made a miraculous self-recovery. Thank you for responding so quickly.
