KitchenAid Oven Microwave Combo Built in KEMC308KBL04 Microwave Door Flops Down

I've been sent on what I would term a "rescue mission" The microwave oven door is supposed to open and stop where ever the user wants it to stop. Instead this one just flops/slams/falls open when you open it and take your hand off of the handle.

Both torsion springs have been replaced by a previous tech.

Hoping someone can shed some light on this kind of microwave oven door repair.

there seems to be (3) different Torsion Springs
Left is lighter than Right
Stainless model uses heaviest right Spring

And just to mess with us techs, the heaviest spring is usually not mentioned on the parts list...

And, in my experience...even with the heaviest springs, they will NOT hold this door in any postiton, only serves to reduce the weight of the door. Customer must still catch door before I slams down...

Thank you for the replies. I have seen these oven micro combos before many times. I really cant recall of the door is supposed to "hang" in any position after you let go.

I have replaced the torsion springs before and it did not "hang" when let go....it did drop all the way open. Customer was satisfied so I called it good.

There are new torsion springs on the unit so I am going yield to any suggestions posted.

I replaced the torsion bars in one of those units a couple of months ago. Piece of cake putting the bars in, the heavy spring (blue)crosses from bottom right to upper left, & the lighter spring crosses from lower left to upper right. Door was heavy with broken heavy spring & plastic backing was POS, thin & flimsy, I had to replace it two. It took 3 deliveries & extra packing to get it in one piece from the warehouse. It did make a difference door opened & closed easily, but it was either opened full or closed full, no in between. Only difficulty was
trying to install the door back on the flimsy door backing..
