Hoping someone can help. A few weeks back I ran my dishwasher and it started making a horrendous loud buzzin/grinding noise. Needless to say, the dishses did not get clean. My husband and I took the whole thing apart and when we got to the food grinder, the screen was very clogged with stuff including a few old toothpicks. We cleaned it out, put it back together and ran it again and it ran fine. Yesterday, I loaded it up, turned it on and realized it was not making the usual splashing sounds and the dishes were not clean. As far as I can tell, the top arm was not spinning at all and I don't know if the bottom arm had much pressure. Took out all of the bottom parts again, the food grinder screen was full of stuff again although no toothpicks. We cleaned it out, put everything back together and now it is running fine. What is going on? Is the food grinder not working so that is causing some other problem? Any suggestions of parts I might need to replace? Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

It is a Kenmore smartwash...idk the model number. It's probably 8-10 years old.

I think this is the model number: 17502200

Is it possible that the food grinder is not working and that is blocking the flow of water into the pump?

For the model number all I see is a bar code and the numbers I gave you are below it. I don't see the 665, but that doesn't mean it's not there somewhere!

I think there's enough water. How would I know?

Also, it is running now and it is make a quiet buzzing sound, but otherwise appears to be working. I don't remember if that buzzing is always there or not!

Sooooo....do you all think I should replace the food chopper?

Ok thanks! I will try replacing the food chopper first, otherwise it will be a whole new dishwasher as I only paid $350 for this one!
