Hello, I was wondering if there is anyway a oven could stay on self clean mode for 19 days. This sounds crazy but, I clean houses and I went to clean a house that the people had just moved out of on the 1 of the month. I showed up on the 17th to clean it and notice how hot it was in the kitchen. I checked the oven and I was locked in self clean. Nobody had been at the house for the whole time so I can only assume that it has been on the whole 19 days. I wouldnt have believed this is possible, but I saw it with my own eyes. I've only seen ovens that let you self clean for only up 3 hours, they shut off after that. I'm scared to see the gas bill for this because it's propane and that stuff isn't cheap these days.

“My Rules”:
Rule # 1) Don't ever use Self-Clean on any Oven.
Rule # 2) If you're thinking about using Self-Clean, see rule # 1.
Self-Clean uses nearly 1000F for 3 hours or more. Posted Image
That can wreak havoc on Electronic Controllers and Connections.

If it is still heating turn off the gas supply.

Somebody is lucky the house didn't catch on fire.

Usually, a thermal cutout switch would have turned the oven off when the heat reaches a certain temperature.

unless it was by-passed, along with Dryer safety thermals, all-too-often by the home-owner :burnin:
