Rheem 12 AC unit had the condenser fan stop. Evidently it the thermal cutoff was tripped. Reset and has yet to trip again. Current running 2.4-3.0 amps and spec states should be 2.0.

Possible causes? It was 102 degrees today here in Texas. I cleaned the housing off to ensure get air flow through the unit.

Do you think the motor needs replacing?

Fan Motor Capacitor may be bad

It's part of the Dual Capacitor.

With power removed, try turning the Fan Motor Shaft (or Blade) by hand.

Does it turn easily, smoothly ?

can you give it a spin, and it will continue for a few revolutions ?
