My french door fridge seems to be having the same issue as described here. Both my model and the model discussed in that posting share the same repair manual so I think things are pretty close to the same. I was hoping to contact that member to get some more details on his problem and the fix that worked for him. But somehow, I cannot seem to get access. Can anyone help? Thanks

If you're having the same problem, the same solution applies: replace the main PCB board ==> http://www.repaircli...JB1280P/1266870

Thanks for your response. However, in reading that tread, it appears that the problem was wires in the door rather than the main circuit card. I too has suspected the card and was very interested as the OP's problem turned out to be wires connecting the door panel to the main card. This is why I hoped to contact the OP to get more clarification.

Have you done the same test he did: check the continuity of the wires at the hinge back to the main PCB? If you have continuity, then the board is bad. No continuity and you'll need to re-establish that path in some clever way. But it all start with that continuity test.

Thanks. I have not yet tried to do anything. I found a service manual online after much searching for a closely related LG model (uses the same main circuit card anyway). I will have to scan it more closely to see how to get access to both sides of the wiring harness.

I am thinking that I maybe have to wait to do this until the problem (all lights on and unresponsive) is manifest. When it is not, I presume there is continuity since all is working fine.

I have looked at the parts list for my model and cannot find any replacement wiring harness for the door. So it seems that the OP was clever in re-establishing the path. I was hoping to reach him for more details.

Post a nice, clear closeup photo or two of the wire connector at the door hinge so we can have a look at it.

I will try to do that. Right now, the fridge is in a cubby-hole and I have to get it out before I can access anything. To get at the main card cover (which seems to be on the back), I will have to remove it completely and this will require taking all of the doors off. What a pain. For now, the attachment is cut from the manual and shows basically what is going on in there. I am presuming the issue is with the wires in the left door (if it is like the OP) since there is alot more going on on the left side. Plus, the all-lights-on and beeping only happens when I open the left door. It never seems to happen with the right door.

Well, I have been able to remove the water dispenser cover on the left french door and the hinge cover above the left door. The former was not what you would call easy to do as the clips which hold it in place are plastic and brittle (so be careful). I was able to check the continuity of each of the 4 wires that run between the display panel and the top of the door. The wires are not what you'd call heavy duty. But they all looked fine where I could see them. All also seem to have solid continuity - the screeching sound from my meter was loud and steady. Of course, the unit was not exhibiting the strange behavior the OP described (and I have experienced about 6 times now) before I did this check. So it could be that all is just ok right now. If it starts happening and keeps happening even after power has been removed and re-applied (as eventually happened to the OP), perhaps I will see something different. If this proves not to be the issue in my case, I will likely have to assume it is the main controller card and simply try replacing it to see what happens. I really dislike having to throw parts at things like that!
