MENCH HERE AGAIN,

PLEASE tell me a SIMPLE WAY to use a multimeter (ohms setting) to check BOTH a 2 and 3 prong power tool for current leakage.
Doesn't the switch have to be in the "ON" position when testing?(Power tool unpluged).
What are the Specific Readings of Resistance I should have.
This is what I think in each case.

2prong infinite
3 prong infinite(2 prongs) ground prong zero

I CAN NOT find this on YOUTUBE.

Thank you for being patient. I haven't mastered how to post and such correctly.

Plug in tool. Throw into bucket of water. If it starts running there is leakage.

Seriously... Isnt this a repost? Two wire tools are double insulated. Are you checking for safety or what? You could check for voltage from the metal housing to ground (of a outlet) while running, any would be bad. Three wire would be basically the same. Voltage from housing to ground is bad. Or check resistance from the housing to the plug ends. The only one that should have any is tool housing to ground prong of three wire.

If posting a question in the same topic Is this complicated, maybe you should invest in cordless tools :)

use of a "portable" GFI when using your power tools,
If it ever "trips", may be time for a new tool.
