Sealed system work, including replacing a compressor, used to be no big deal-- just another service call. But ever since EPA passed the Dupont Regulations, it's made doing sealed system work prohibitively expensive-- might as well send your old one to a landfill and buy a new one. Both Dupont and the appliance manufacturers love this.
