does anyone have a parts diagram for the Lennox AM30 ?
Mine developed a leak at the bottom of the copper Space Heat Coil
where it touches the bottom galvanized bracket.
I removed 2 screws from the front of the bracket,
and the front seems to be loose, but the bracket won't slide out.
Any other thoughts or comments ?

thanks, I have that one..
either way, looks like I would have to have the Coil removed (solder)
and repaired or replaced ~ $1500 part
I may need to think about a "complete" furnace / water heater replacement

If you do not do silver brazing yourself,remove the coil and take it to a auto radiator shop for repair. They would also pressure test the coil. If you have to cut the supply tubing you could use flare fittings and couplers to reattach the tubing.

I'll have to think about that..
the water coils are about 10 years old ..
I'll be talking to the original installer company to see what their thoughts are..
I'm thinking of keeping the air handler / blower unit Lennox HM30
After cutting the 3/4" copper, I'd have to temporarily cap the supply stubs... (uses house hot water supply)

and may need to think about replacing the (somewhat tankless) domestic potable water heater (boiler)
and the 20 year old central air.
The Scroll Compressor unit may still be good
Fan Motor replaced a few years ago
Condenser coil condition (?)
"A Coil" has a lot of "surface(?) rust

last run on the bottom bad ? that's like ten miles of rough road , but you know what you have to do , pull it ,fix it and move on

if the pipes turn out to be worn real thin , looks like you can snip out that lower few rungs and cap them so you just don't send any water through them , the system will work fine without them

replace ? , not if it was mine , i am to cheep and poor to let a nice system go for such a small problem

like i said before , 10 miles of rough road and by the time your done it might feel like 50 but there's no easy way around

I can't determine, yet where it's leaking ..
At first I thought it was the bottom run, sitting on the galvanized rail,
but the fins sit on the rail..not the copper.. ..

Ok. I figured it out I paid some money and now I can write. Lennox Complete heat system Many say it is a piece of shit, but ours has been working great for 17 years...................until the water/air exchanger started leaking. Repair man says $2500 to fix......................Lennox parts which are scarce but available commands $1200-$1500 for the radiator. I was able to get a brand new commercial unit that I was able to install with modification. Coil is 3 rows (compared to the original 2 row) and the coil and misc parts came to $400. Took me approx 3-4 hours to replace myself, including some silver brazing. If anyone is interested I will post some pics.

I believed when these units first came out that they were a good Idea, certainly very efficient and the continuous supply of hot water is amazing. We have a 6500 sq ft house that actually has two air handlers.

I am going to replace the upstairs heat exchanger before it leaks.

PS. Do not waste time trying to repair, braze the unit. I did,and 4 hours later (not included in the above labor tally), it was still leaking. it is now full of holes by 30 well placed 7.62 rounds!!

.. yes, efficient and direct vent water heating
... ours is 10 yrs old,... I will be looking for maybe a tankless gas water heater to replace the HM30





update:
fixed it a few days ago ...
Lennox wanted about $ 1500 for the water / air heat exchanger ... ..
I bought a generic 22x22 one from a reseller freeheat4u on eBay $ 200 shipped ..
Item # 170926425214 made in USA
with a little (lots) of copper pipe / fittings ... fits perfectly..
I added a pair of Ball Valves on the top left of the replacement ,
and a pair of Union Connectors (top & bottom center)
Heat exchanger can be removed for cleaning / replacement
