I have a kenmore 417.92702200 unit had an issue with spinning would not / I found a forum and a tech told me the motor was the issue I replaced and it ran fine for 3 months now it is doing it again I got a nother motor as the 1st one was used this one is new I installed and it does the same thing the motor seems to get hot (the last one smoked) I get a click and the unit stops it will come back on shortly and sounds as if it is draining runs a few then clicks off again. unit agitates fine and the lid switch seems to be working fine. jsut wont spin will drai
transmission with belt hooked up and motor turn by hand when this happens

1) wouldn't b e a bad Motor if it Agitated OK (unless it now is damaged)
2) ? ? ? what ? ? ?

does is Spin at all or it's locked-up ?
yes, may be something between the Basket and Tub

Ok, the problem is not the motor.

You either have articles of clothing or other foreign objects stuck between the wash basket and the outer tub, a bad transmission, a seized idler pulley, or a bad tub bearing and seal.

Try spinning the wash basket by hand. It should only turn freely counterclockwise by hand . If it is hard to turn by hand, then that's your problem. If it turns freely clockwise, you definitely have a bad transmission.
