Current situation:
Amana Bottom Freezer
Model: BCI20TL-P1309702WL
Lately the ice seems to have a surface layer of liquid water. Son is reporting popsicles don't seem as frozen as usual. Frost is steadily building up on the back panel of the freezer. The unit is running all the time.
From memory, I believe if I pull the back panel off I will find a block of ice. Recollection also says the fix was to replace a relatively small item that I believe is related to the defrost system. I have scanned the repair FAQ and have pretty much verified my recollection.
I'm looking at parts listings for my unit and I'm not seeing, e.g., "defrost timer." I'm sure it's there, I'm just blind. So, to sum up, I'm posting here for hopes of getting at the issue sooner than later. I'm going on travel next week so I only have tomorrow and Saturday to locate a part and fix this so the wife doesn't (potentially) have to operate out of coolers while I'm away.
Is it still customary to open a beer while contemplating a repair? If so, I'll do that now. Thank you.
Gary
