Kdog knows his stuff; if he says motor, then most likely it's the motor. If it was me, I'd start shopping. You really can still get good deals on craigslist.

Yup, that's the current plan! I do frequent eBay and have found "good" used motors for about $60. Craiglist, I never thought of for appliance parts because it's not set up for non-local buying.
