This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

This is absolutely insane! What the nanny-staters don't appreciate is that in a free market, there are not shortages-- things just get more expensive which provides a valuable market signal to both buyers and sellers.

Much of this resourse-focused nanny state crap comes from the UN's Agenda 21, which has filtered into programs such as the reviled Energy Star program and the local planning and zoning ordinances of most cities and towns in the US. You are already affected by this horrendous piece of totalitarian aspiration and don't even know it!

More info on Agenda 21 here ==> http://whatisagenda21.net/agenda21.htm

Already happened up here - and also Furnaces, ONLY high efficient will be sold - no more MID. It's "better" for me to disable this monsterous cinder brick chimney that my house was built around and desroy half of my basement and walls to enable pvc through the wall vent pipes to a location without windows ???!!!

We know the bureaucrats have ulterior motives. We remain on the brink of UN control of our energy grid. I don't think the powers-that-be really care about carbon dioxide - do you?

I sure do! It's a life-giving gas that plants need to grow. The more the better!

And China pumps all the pollutants they want. In the air and on the ground. It floats and migrates west. Yet the corporations and the politicians say they care about human rights, as the commies still live in squalor and American wages and benefits go down. We bring in just enough people who, "do the jobs that Americans wo'nt do," so there is a constant high unemployment rate, so the corporations can pick and choose, through long term temp services, the employees the government deems worthy of employment. George Orwell and Ayn Rand seen the incremental, insidious disease spread by the left. Wow, Sorry guys, I got on a rant. Thank God for appliantology to divert my attention to something more positive.

Most likely going to be seeing many more not cleaning good complaints on dishwashers starting in May 2013!!!

Damn gubermint!!!!!!

Sigh, customers already having trouble digesting the phosphate-free detergent explaination and the run your tap water at the sink until it's hot advice... Maybe I can use this info for an arguement that it is better to repair your old dishwasher than to buy a new one(?).

When a customer is contemplating the repair vs. replace asks me what's the best dishwasher to buy, I quote from the Samurai Scriptures:

There are no good dishwashers today. They are all gone aside, they are altogether become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Yea verily all doth sucketh and fall short of the glory of the Samurai.

– Psamurai Psalms 14:3 (Shogun Tanaka Version)

Can I hear an, "A-frikkin-men?" How about one of my podcasts, instead?

Loved the podcast. I started seeing the degredation of freedom in the eighties, (it started long before) while in the navy and the flight plan is always the same, but the american people have been dumbed and numbed to the point where they just want to feel good. Do not tell them, they do not want to hear it. Then they complain that things are not like they used to be. Well (said like Ronald Reagan) we will just have to keep fighting the evil empire's destructive tactics of ruining good appliances on the alter of mother earth until they put us out of business and start the beatings for us infidels who dare to figure out how to repair the old ones with stuff from our machine shops and hardware stores. By then the country will probably look like the planet of the apes. Oh, and by the way. I'm an optimist.

By the way Samarai, what info do you have on the origins of the so-called fossil fuels? I read about a russian theory that oil is just a naturally ocurring, regenerating substance from the earth, with no known cause as of yet. To many people want to worship the created instead of the creator, so they come up with all these "theories" and teach it to the kids, to brainwash the next generation. If you could give me this one last little morsel of wisdom Sensei, I promise I will go back to the dojo to practice the craft. The true art of illumination as my refrigerator door opens and the ever increasing(electronically controlled for energy savings) light blasts me in the face, that I might grab a cold brew and a cold slice for a nice lunch after such a strenuous morning of reading and contemplating where I go from here. A brewery! How could they screw that up.

Where there's beer there's hope, Suampman.

Take away the people's dishwashers, get OSHA involved in the NFL, and pass a VAT tax.

Then we'll see some citizens voting - with baseball bats.

By the way Samarai, what info do you have on the origins of the so-called fossil fuels? I read about a russian theory that oil is just a naturally ocurring, regenerating substance from the earth, with no known cause as of yet.

You're referring to the abiotic oil theory which has been the working model for the Russians for the past 20 years and they're a petroleum powerhouse.

The story that oil comes from dinosaurs doesn't pass the laugh test-- it's not even common sense. With just the amount of petroleum that has been pumped out to date, the earth could not have supported the number of dinosaurs that would have been required to produce that oil. The "fossil fuel" story was concocted by the Texas Rail Commission in early in the 20th Century to perpetuate the myth that oil is scarce because if something is scarce, you can charge more for it. Petroleum does percolate up through some dinosaur remains and so picks up those traces on its way to the surface. They know this but misrepresent it to perpetuate the myth of scarcity and justify $4/gallon gasoline. Another example of more bullshit for profit.

I don't know about the validity of the Russian abiotic theory but it makes a lot more sense than the "fossil fuel" fairy tale. And it's produced great results for the Russians.

To many people want to worship the created instead of the creator, so they come up with all these "theories" and teach it to the kids, to brainwash the next generation.

I would put the theory of evolution (taught as dogmatic law, but it is not), the "fossil fuel" myth, and Keynesian economics (the dominant economic theory taught in all western schools today) as three examples of this.

When I decided to go into the appliance repair field a few years back, I went out to Cleveland to get certified. There was a big wheel from whirlpool there who said the publics impression of appliance service was, that it was a butt crack industry. Well, there may be some butt cracks out there, but from what I here at this website, and the guys I talk to in the field, appliance repair has it's share of informed, free thinking intellects. I love the manbanter and the helpfulness of the of the participants. Thanks for the info.. I am going to look up that abiotic oil theory. Great appliance website and I like to here about the sinister b t ds and the theories that drive them to do such stupid conclusions.

Own it and read it.  Depressing until you realize it's the same old story:  theft, but on a national (and now global) scale.  Human nature never changes, there's nothing new under the sun.  Humans have been ripping each other off and killing each other since Cain killed Abel.
