The dryer no longer spins or heats up.

Could it be gas solenoid coils or the Igniter? Anything else to check?

Thanks

Problem is more likely to be an open thermal fuse, located by removing the rear panel of the dryer. Fuse looks like the one pictured - if it measures open resistance it needs to be replaced and the vent requires attention.

... more likely to be an open thermal fuse

prevents Tumble on Electric Dryers :whistling:

maybe LGL8858EQ0 ?
Drum Motor doesn't try to start ?
Does the Timer run ?
It may be a bad Door Switch or possibly Switch Start

Thanks for the replies. The p/n could be partially wrong. It is my mother’s dryer and see read it off the door (I can verify later today). I’m trying to get my trouble shooting steps in order before I go over there today to look/work on it. It is a GAS dryer.

From what she has said the drum does not turn at all. She doesn’t know about the timer as she said she smells gas and turns it off.

So check the thermal fuse, door switch (assume verifying there is no contact when pressing switch is bad). Then solenoid coils and igniter.

Any preferred order I should check these in?

Thanks again!

1) there shouldn't be any Gas flow unless the Drum Motor is turning ...
2) the Thermal Fuse wouldn't prevent the Drum Motor from turning ..

a bad Belt would stop the Drum, but not the Heat

1. Thermal Fuse (ok)
2. Door Switch (ok)
3. Gas Valve Solenoids (not checked) Worried I am going to strip the tiny screws trying to get theme out.
4. Belt (Bad) Will replace obviously

5. Still need to check the igniter while I have it open waiting for the belt. Where is it located?

Thanks!

OR
just start the Dryer without the Drum ..
Burner should start OK

OK Hook everything back up with the exeption of the front panel. Turned on the dryer and sounded like everything but the drum was working. Holy S, the flames look danerous as hell. Already order the belt, thanks for the link, will update with sucess or failure after it is fully reassembled.

... with the exeption of the front panel.

remember, entire Cabinet must be fully assembled for correct air-flow ...
