Hello,


I have a maytag atlantis and it shakes real bad I replaced the belt because it was shinny and worn. I haven't worked on this model that much so I'm not sure what is causing the bad shaking. If anyone could give me some tips on what to look for or what causes excesive vibration on this model will be helpful.

Look around the base of the main drive pulley. If you see a lot of white shavings, this is a worn snubber ring.

OTOH, if the basket leans to one side during the spin cycle, generally the right side as you face the washer, then you have bigger problems and need this kit ==> http://www.repaircli...2002701/1164331

There is a service kit that addresses these issues, the part # is

This kit is for the Performa (PAV and HAV) model washers cause the mounting hole for the water pump is in the rear of the base, not the front like on the Atlantis washers.

Is that kit easy to install or is it time consuming and thanks for the quick reply I really appreciate the help. Also so are you saying that the snubber wouldn't apply to this model because it was worn around there but I cant say I remember white shavings just scuff or scratch marks and it does shake real bad, customer saying that the machine is walking, or just the base kit?

You will need the base kit which comes with the snubber and springs - fairly involved job to change it. Be certain there are no oil/water seal leaks as they could be at the root of the problem - most folks will junk these at this point

Is that the right base kit since it is for the performa model since this is an Atlantis with with pump in the front instead of the back?

Well, my bad, repairclinic has the wrong picture of the base. The part # in the kit above is correct.

That's the same - you sure about that Model Number ??

Could it be MAV6200 ?

They gonna want to spend $500 on repair ??

Yeah it is mav6200 I guess I was a little dyslexic and it is a warranty company so you never know they want to fix everything even. Also I just wanted to know for my own sake.

home warranty company, sorry. They actually told the customer that they do not cover sturctural things and that the kit is a structural repair so they won't cover the repair or replace the unit. They always do their best not to pay out any money but they have always payed me even though they are annoying.

Just had this issue come up on a Maytag LAT2600AAE.  Called tech line, they told me I needed to replace the snubber.  Does anyone have a part number for that special spring removal tool?  I've seen one once, no one in my current shop has one, and the RepairClinic link says that the tool is no longer available from the manufacturer.
