You have to buy the 279816 kit, but you do NOT use the high limit thermostat that's in the kit, just the thermal cutoff. You still have to buy the hi limit thermostat separately.
So for this dryer, Scott, you have to stock the high limit thermostat:
http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/High-Limit-Thermostat/8577891/1201574?modelNumber=WED6200SW1
AND the thermal cutout fuse kit:

But you need to mix n' match using the high limit tsat in the first link and the thermal cutout (only) in the second link?

The hi-limit thermostat that you posted (with the "thermister" connection) is used in addition to the high limit thermostat - as I recall it is mounted on the exhaust outlet. The Fuse that is in 279816 kit is the same - the one on the element housing.
The hi-limit thermostat is attached to the bottom of the Flat Can Element. Whirlpool calls it tje Inlet Thermistor/High-Limit Thermostat. Looks like this:

There is a outlet thermostat on the blower housing.

I gotta get this right.............I cannot find P/N 8577891 being called a Thermistor/ High limit thermostat..
Appears they only call it a High Limit Thermostat but it is in fact a High Limit Thermostat and a Thermistor, see the small two pin connector on top and the bottom picture shows the thermistor that would be in the air flow along with the sensing portion of the high limit t-stat.
The RepairClinic picture is the first one of these I've every seen.
