Whirlpool front load washer LHW0050PQ with the complaint being that the door is locked and they can't get there clothes out. I don't want to damage the door or something else by prying open with a bar. Is there someway to get this thing open without damaging everything around it?

This is the Merloni Eurotrash machine. The cheesey door latch assemblies on these units are famous for epic and frequent failures. You'll need to force the door open and replace the door latch assembly cuz the fat lady done sung on that one.
