So this is a Kelvinator, of all things.

Customer reports a high-pitch grinding noise in spin. I have not been there, but listening to it thru the phone I'd say it's a bearing.

The question is, is this worth fixing? How bad are these to tear down?

Because if he scraps it, he scraps a good dryer as well, so I am reluctant to condemn.

I go out tomorrow night, what to look for in particular?

Replacing the tub bearing on these is alot of work. I would charge around $400 for the job. It's up to you and the homeowner to decide if it's worth fixing. This machine looks like it was built in 1998.

Money is best spent on replacing one of those - Dryer will be far from pristine

The unit has been in storage for ten years. Customer was hoping for "new old stock" condition when it came out. Doesn't necessarily work that way.
