Bosch Front Load Washer WFMC3301VC. I responded to a clogged drain pump and thought I was being careful with letting the water into a shallow pan, (I had tilted the unit up on a roll of duct tape so i could fit the pan under) All I accomplished is flooding the laundry room floor. There is likely a simple, easy way to get the water past the angle sheet metal that i runs onto? Also, the drain line was clogged with a black slime (what is that black slime?). I did my best to clear the drain line by running water into it and blowing on it with my mouth. I got it cleared and draining properly. Do i need to order a Bosch drain line or can I use a regular rubber hose? Also, i screwed the strainer back on and couldn't get it tight enough to stop it from leaking, can order just the gasket, or do i need to order a new strainer? Thanks.

It is better to have the unit tilt forward (add 2x thickness under rear), then it will follow the funnel shape of the housing and won't run into the cabinet. Loosening those caps can cut you bad when it breaks loose and your hand slips - I use the handles of my channelox and twist the business end with a screwdriver for leverage to crack it. Then, don't remove the cap but loosen it a bit so you have a slow/controlled flow, when your catch pan is getting full retighten the cap to stop flow - empty container, repeat etc until empty. Don't see the strainer listed but you can probably buy one - better to just locate an appropriate o-ring to replace it. The black sludge is formed from a slurry of detergent, fab softener, pubic hair, skin grime, water impurities, bodily secretions etc - common in any home drain system (homemade axle grease) - aren't you glad you had that call AFTER lunch ?

Yes, my customer, whom is the county coroner and sees lots of gross stuff, watched me blow (through my hand) the human axil grease out of the drain hose and told me that my job was way grosser than hers...good to know.
