It's a good idea to try a new door lock, we've seen them that whirlpool tech line said it needed a control, but a door lock fixed it. Also check for broken wires at the motor, capacitor, shifter, and pump. Whirlpool tech told me they are finding breaks in the red wire coil loop under the tub too.

pump is ok,runs fine on bench & no obstructions.red coil ok,reads good continuity with meter.no broken wires any where.did not have new door lock but old one checks fine on bench & in machine.locks door closed & contacts show coninuity in closed position.don't want to get into the shotgun approach & throw parts at this thing until it is fixed.

Check for 13 volts DC at control board J-2 between gray and black wires.

So what would cause the machine not to start up and cause locking and unlocking? .....capacitor and/or motor. If all wires are okay, I'm with Sensei Nickfixit and Sun Tsu on this one
