I have a Kenmore  10677292790 refrigerator. I stupidly put a 60w bulb in it and the light switch stuck on causing the housing to burn right through to the liner. It's a nasty hole a I'm wondering how to repair it. I've ordered the housing, bulb socket and new switch.

Just paint over it white

it will look good enough

after a few months of kicking yourself , you will forget it's even there .

just a spray paint that is made for plastic , high gloss

nothing expensive

 

but

 

you will need to air it our for a few days after you paint it

the good news is once the paint drys there is no smell

 

your not the first one to do this , i see it a few times a year , most of the time it includes the 100 watt bulb still melted to the liner

Thanks! This was only a 40 but I have no idea how long the switch was stuck on. Now what to do with all those fish filets from my thanksgiving trip!

One more thing, the housing for the wiring, switch and bulb pretty much cover the damaged area. The liner burned from contact with the housing. If the paint is strictly cosmetic then I may just put the new housing on when it comes.

In my case these are traded in appliances we get in for repair and resale.

most go to rentals and apartments , so i try to make them look good and yet spend next to nothing in repairs

The one for my fridge is twice as expensive!

I got the replacement bracket, socket and switch and, with it in place, the burn hole is not even visible. Thanks for the help.
