Apparently, water is backfilling into the tub and flooding through the door. The washer was not in use and had not been used for a day when this occurred. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Does this 9 year old washer have a model number?
If so,we can tell you the part number.

Seems to be more common in these washers than other brands. I've had 3 of these where the water valve was not closing completely and not completely shutting the water off even when the machine was turned off and unplugged.
