Hello,
I just replaced the HV board on my Matag fridge, model MBR2562HES.
Trying to program the new board but the touchpad will not accept any input.
What gives?

Trying to program the new board but the touchpad will not accept any input.
how far does it get ?
does it display the PE ?
1) Open the Fresh Food door and press and hold the Door Alarm Keypad DoorAlarm
2) Press and hold Freezer Temperature Down Keypad -
3. Release the Door Alarm Keypad DoorAlarm and wait 3 seconds
(keep holding the Freezer Temperature Down Keypad)
4. The control will display PE to indicate the programming mode.

The display reads PEO OOO
I have the programming code sequence, but the touch pad does not repond.

Could you enter into programming or test mode with original board? Btw, why did you replace the board?

I don't know how to say this except to tell you to keep doing the key dance as accurately as possible...it has taken me as many as 15 -20 trys to enter the programing mode...a real pita!

Sho- The fridge was running, but it would not cool. Same with the freezer. Everything I read indicated the problem was the HV board.

I have never had a problem programming these board but Kurtius has probably done more of them. Did you try diagnostics/programming with the original board? If you could, then we know you are doing the "dance" correctly and it would rule out a wiring problem. Process of elimimation is one of the best tools in appliance repair.

No cool huh? Have you made sure the compressor is running? If not , is it getting 120vac from control? Known start relay issues with these...

BMF, I have a copy of the procedure. You seemed to be implying that there was some special way to perform it.
The compressor was running.
. Did you try diagnostics/programming with the original board?
How do I do this?

You can program your original board using the same key combination for your new board.If I am not mkstaken, diagnostic mode is entered using the fresh food keys as oppose to the freezer keys. Do you have the tech sheet or service manual?

The control buttons do not work with the old board either.
I have a tech sheet. It says to use the freezer down key. There are no fresh food keys.

Ok.... If touchpad does not work with neither boards, something is interfering with communication between board and touchpad. You may need another touchpad but first make sure the ribbon is seated properly. Check you tech sheet for a touchpad test. Have you tested/replaced thermistors?
But before you start buying more stuff, an accurate diagnosis of your problem is needed. You said the fridge is running but not cooling, please explain. Fans running? , frost build up? Compressor running? What are the temps?

DA, thanks for you help.
Where can I find tech sheets? Maytag's sight only has owner's manual and parts list.
Where can I find the thermisters and how are they tested?
With the old board the compressor runs, fan runs. Not cold enough for frost build up. Temps are in the mid 60's. This is what the control has as the set temps, and they will cannot be changed.

To which ribbon are you referring?
The control panel remains unresponsive. If I put the old board back in the fridge fires up but the temps cannot be changed. Is there a way to test the control panel? How do I access it?
