All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

May I have a manual for this unit please.   Customer says unit has blown fuse on back of refer after power outage,  Says he wiggled it to get it running.  Think myself that his ploblem is a diode or relay that he thinks is a fuse.  Insists that he has 2 fuses on back, one a 5 amp & another that is 15amp.   A manual of some sort would be nice before I go.   Thank you Patrick

May a service call to the residence.  Lo & behold the LG does have 2 fuses, You can tell I don't work on many LG's done here.   Trouble with the fuses are they are soldered in not in fuse holders.  Customer tried to pull fuse out traditionally & broke it.   Now what do I do Solder in a fuse holder or order a new board.   Customer got refer to work again but the fuse is barely making contact.

New board is around $200.

blown Fuses during power surges / outages can be common ..

You could replace the Fuse with a "pigtail" Fuse.

or a surface mount Fuse Holder

OR possibly an in-line Fuse holder ..

I was thinking an in line fuse.  What is a pig tail fuse?   Where is a good place to buy fuse holders, Radio Shack?

I was thinking sniping the old fuse out & where the pin is sticking through the board crimping a sleeve fitting to it so I don't have to solder.  Afraid that the heat might distort another part if I solder.

Looks like it might be difficult to extract the board from the back of the fridge, was kind of hoping for a tech manual to help wirh my maybe repair.

Why would anyone solder a fuse in direct rather than place a fuse holder.  Darn sure ain't American thinking.

1) a Fuse with "pigtails" that's what's in there now.

2) maybe Radio Shack .. eBay or other mail-order electronic web-sites

should be soldered ..
