Hi Folks,

 

This dishwasher has been doing a crappy job of getting the dishes clean since new 2 years ago. I pulled the unit today so I could do some tile work and found that the drain line was crimped almost flat.  My questions are:

 

1.  Is this most likely what is causing the dishes not to get clean?  The drain must be allowing some liquid through because there is no standing water when the cycle is over.

 

2.  Is there a way to repair the crimp so I don't have to buy that $35 part?

 

3.  Should I give in to the wife and buy a new dishwasher?

For this model---a SERIAL NUMBER is needed to narrow possible fault(s).

Yes--a badly crimped DRAIN HOSE can cause poor wash results.

Is there a way to fix that crimped section of drain hose?

Built July 2010---a sweet spot during production :)

 

No issues for this build date other than a *possible* noise complaint (low whistling sound during wash). Caused by a re-designed CHOPPER (also known as Macerator Blade). Can be replaced if desired---simple.

 

In your case---the dishwasher was improperly installed---resulting in a crimped/damaged DRAIN HOSE (AEM69493803) which **will** leak water at some point in time.

 

A slow drain will cause less-than-ideal-cleaning results.

 

Not repairable.

It's a guaranteed leak waiting to happen---install a new DRAIN HOSE.

Verify that the dishwasher Hot Water supply and Drain Hoses are *correctly* routed/installed (consult INSTALLATION MANUAL).

The dishwasher wash performance will be greatly improved.

You can also crimp (block) the black rubber hose off to retro-fit the new drain hose, instead of additonally buying the new water inlet.

The AEM69493803 DRAIN HOSE is a direct-fit for this dishwasher---the GUIDE ASSY (2nd part pictured) is not needed.

 

 

Earlier models (determined by Serial Number) *did* have a different...

 

1) MAIN BOARD (programmed to partial drain)

 

2) DRAIN HOSE (does not have an anti-siphon break)

 

3) GUIDE ASSY (does not have a connector for the anti-siphon hose)

Just out of curiousity.....is this an OK dishwasher or did I screw up when I walked into Home Depot and asked for the quietest machine they had?

OK Folks, time for a little feedback.

 

I ordered, received and installed a new drain hose.  I ran the machine for the first time after that today.  I told the wife to just load the dishes in and don't worry about it pre-cleaning.  Good News.....everything came out cleaner than ever before.  I can start talking nice to my machine now instead of threating it with replacement.
