I have a Amana fridge w/drawer type freezer. Last weekend the freezer section quit working, everthing thawed. Worked very well till then. It's about 4 years old. Model #ABB2221FEW. Any ideas?

The Compressor is controlled by the Freezer temperature ..
What are the actual Fridge and Freezer temperatures ? ?
The Freezer Evaporator Fan and the Compressor Condenser Fan should be running anytime the Compressor runs.

I don't know the actual temps, but the freezer section is room temp, as the upper fridge section is it's normal cold temp.

Freezer Light staying ON ?

I don't believe the light is staying on, no ice maker. My problem is the fridge is in my cabin about 75 miles from home. I won't be able to get back there till next wknd. Where is the defrost heater located? I suppose a volt/ohm meter will test it? What is the easiest way to test it? Does the freezer work off the same refridgeration as the fridge? I appreciate any info you can give.

1) that would be a logical reason for the symptoms
2) #15 Defrost Heater on Freezer Evaporator Coils #12, behind #4 Evaporator Cover
3) yes
4) yes, Freon travels into the Evaporator (in Freezer), and a Fan blows that cold air into the Fridge

and the Freezer Light goes OUT when the Door is closed ?
May have to remove the Freezer light Bulb and see if the symptoms improve in a few days
