      We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
      Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!

Genuine GE ignitors don't seem to last long in this oven (which burns propane, if it matters). Two replaced in last five years alone; one of those had only about 3 years' service on it. $75 apiece gets spendy. I see 'em on eBay for $18/ea, not in any maker's box; guessing generic replacements of unknown quality or durability.

 

Any thoughts?

Your model uses the "round" Ignitor

GE doesn't "make" Ignitors ..
there's only one (maybe two) manufactures ..
Ignitors are fragile..
don't bang 'em before or after installation ...
Using the Oven Self-Clean will also shorten their life ..

I usually order the Whirlpool part and cut the leads and wire nut in.

 

The Whirlpool kit comes with an additional mounting bracket and screws and can generally get it cheaper than the GE labeled part.

 

I haven't had any problems with any of the one's I've replaced.

 

I usually get the Genuine FSP Whirlpool 4342528 round ignitors for under $25.00 wholesale.
