I've done excactly two oven ignitor replacements on this style of G.E. The first one I tried taking all sorts of screws out on the bottom pan and struggled.  The one I did yesterday I just flexed the burner up and to the side to gain access to the two screws that hold the round ignitor on, seemed to work.  Is that bad form? will I bend somthing at the burner tube connection?  Is there an easier way to replace these ignitors?

I always remove the two, 1/4" black hex screws on the burner tube flange that secures the burner tube to the frame.  You access those underneath the oven cell by removing the pots drawer.  You have to get down there anyway to make the wiring connections.  This way, you don't risk changing the geometry of the ignitor relative to the burner tube or risk breaking the burner tube anchoring flange.  Also gives easier access to the ignitor retaining screws.
