Last week I had FL error coming up on this washer and found the pump to not be functioning after putting it into diagnostics. Replaced the pump.

Things I noticed or abnormal about the repair:

1) When doing the repair the bottom metal cover on the washer was rusted out so customer just wanted to throw it away.

2)There's a switch that I bypassed that the tray kept depressed.

3) Washer had a lot of soap suds in it.

Started unit up in Rinse and spin cycle and let it run. Pump worked fine. Badda bing, badda boo, life is good!

 

Got a call back this week same error.

I ran by to see if connections were ok, and confirm pump wasn't running.

Ran in self diagnostic mode and it never pumped out water.

Drained water (gravity) to see if there was any obstructions. Water drained slowly with some pieces that looked like wet chewed up news paper, and maybe loose ravels from clothing.

Didn't have time for much else.

 

My thought is to:

A) Go back and pull the hose feeding the pump and make sure it's clean.

B) Do the same on the drain side

C) While I have each hose off try to suck anything that might have gotten it the pump out.

 

What bothers me is I didn't hear the pump trying to even pump.

 

Any thoughts, suggestions, or criticisms would be greatly appreciated.

Those drain systems are known to get plugged up as there is a chamber built into the bottom of outer tub - also, rubber kazoo (checkvalve) in end of drain hose gets debris caught in it (works fine with that piece in the trash)

I like the way that sounds. Makes sense. I wouldn't have known that I could just toss that piece.

that chamber can be a bitch to clean out too if it's got bra hook etc caught in it - best to remove "Nutator" and get some eyeballs on the U-Joint boot/mechanism, they are common to fail and if so, no point going further.

Customers often try washing rubber backed rugs, pet beds, stuffed pillows etc, and of course they fall apart and clog the sump and the water pump.   There is not an easy way to drain or clean out the sump in these machines.  In my opinon, these washers belong in the garbage.

Are you referring to the pump chamber?

The dilema I have with that is, I've already installed a new pump for them and they've used it a week. I hate like hell to find another problem I might should have found the first time. Then what? Should I have done that during the initial call?

Almost the same situation. Except I've already installed the pump. Just need to get it cleaned out better and get rid of all the soap.

This washer is located in a Christian school. Point being, there's no telling what all is going into it.

Last one I did , The customer washed a small shag rug that disintegrated....... Small bits of rug stayed in all the nooks and cranny's....Took three tries of filling,  draining ( with the pump jamming and removing said pump ) to remove all the bits of rug.....................Charge accordingly........ . .

Repair went well today. just pulled hose from pump vacuumed everything out.

Pulled 4 screws from pump housing exposing propeller pulled clump out blocking propeller.

Ran test cycle everything worked great. Ran short cycle while talking with customer and left.
