Complaint on Kenmore D/W 665.116362300 after home owner replaced heating element, dishwasher not cleaning properly.  Leaving dishes gungie.  What to possibly look for?

Does it Drain OK between cycles ?

 

Are the Spray Arms rotating ?

Exactly on the money.  The junk in the sump was hard water deposits.  Asked them while they were using phosphate free powdered soap.  Said they did not know.    Scraped, cleaned & soaked in vineger to clean. Filled washer up several times & flushed thru the drain cycle to clean chunks of calcium that broke up due to the vinegar.   Was worried for a while cause of all the noise from the deposits being flushed.  Finally got it cleared.  Sold them some glisten to run thru after I cleaned up & left.  advised them to start using cascade with the highest phosphate content they an find.  Gave them repair clinics web site so they can purchase & use glisten on regular basis.    Called a tech in the nick of time.

       Detergent.........It is called  dish detergent. ......not soap............If  you want to be a Service Technician , you have to  talk like a Technician.......No more phosphate in detergents anymore..........................  I tell the customer to add a bit of T.S.P. ( tri-sodium phosphate ) to the  main wash dispenser, about 1/3 of a teaspoon.............More than one way to skin a cat.......

I thought some (most ?) states in the U.S have banned "real" TSP and the stuff the sell now is

Yes it did.  4th one I've seen in as many weeks

.  The prior 3 were already at the point of no return (locked, humming motors) One was so bad it was set like concrete, literally had to chip it out of the sump.

Correct, detergent it is even though I usually refer D/W detergent as Cascade. ( locals still call it soap South Texas ya know). 

I beg to differ on no phosphates in detergent any more, bought some Cascade today with 8% phosphate on the label.

What is CLR.  I used vinegar cause that is what the home owner had, how bout lime away?  Any other recommendations?

Every time I see this problem, I ask the customer if they're using rinse aid.  Almost always, they are not.  Using rinse aid is no longer optional in today's dishwashers and not using it will cause exactly this problem.  More here ==> http://fixitnow.com/...ys-dishwashers/

Will ask the question, the last customer uses rinse aid, it was leaking down the front of the DW,  what might cause that?

I've seen CLR at Walmart, never used it, used lime away.

Liquid dishwasher detergent is bad stuff. It also adds to the muck you find in dishwashers. Use Finish powder for best results.

guys the Water in the Coastal Bend of Texas is so thick with deposits, you could sift it with a silt screen, and it still wouldn't be drinkable. But I will say that down here in the Corpus Christi area it's useless to have a dishwasher, cause it's just gonna be broke down in a couple of years, Wish I could get "detergent" with phosphate in it but it's all gone now, I've been recomending the Finnish Tablets cause they seem to work the best at my house, for phosphate free soap. CTG I'm sorry but I've always called it soap, when talking to customers, but I'll try to change
