LG LFC21760 Temp control changing by itself

4 posts in this topic

Another wonderful day in the life of owning an LG refigerator.  I am having a problem with the refrigerator temp control changing by itself when the doors are open.  It happens intermittently, but more frequently as time goes on.  I also do not have control of the temp using the microswitches on the control panel.  I have to pull the plug and then plug it back in to get the fridge temp back to 37 degrees.  Any ideas anyone?

This model is notorious for light staying on, throwing temp control sensor off target temp as doors open and close. Also, the Micom (PCB) takes 3 inputs (Freezer sensor, Refrig Sensor, and Defrost Sensor) and COMPARES voltage inputs (O to 5V) to make temperature control decisions. .5 to 5V is a "normal" operational reading from sensors to Micom--refer to manual for pin numbers. So, with that said, a good place to start is ohming out the three sensors per service manual and proceeding to an operational test with voltages. If sensors pass ohm testing, then suspect the Micom.

Post the SERIAL NUMBER.

Serial Number 612KRTA00433.  Already had the LG warranty repair for the lights staying on about two years ago.
