I looked at a GE electric oven today and saw the bake element sparking. The sparks didn't look like sparks, however. They looked like small loops of wire traveling for 4 to 6 inches at a time along the element. I've never seen anything like this. Could this be a grounding problem causing the problems with the ERC that the customer complained about?

Sounds to me like you have a Bake element about to bite the dust.

yes, GE has "dropped" some of the"0"s from their model numbers..
