OK, this sucks. Out at the horse barn we have a fridge in our saddle and tack room that suddenly croaked. I whipped it around and the compressor is hot to the touch but no action whatsoever going on.....I pulled the relay and overload and looked them up here at Repairclinic:

The overload rattles when you shake it. Nothing smells burned. Relay seems OK. I guess I can test it but I'd rather replace both.

 

I can't get these parts, it seems.

 

Now what do I do? Oh great experts I beseech thee........

If the Compressor was "hot", then then white Overload seems to be working ..

You may want to use a Compressor Test Cord to see if the Compressor will "run"

If your compressor tests ok, you may be able to use a supco generic relay/overload pro81 designed for small compressors 1/12 to 1/3 hp. If you have a larger compressor then use the pro41. I've had good success with these relays.

Probably will cost more to make a test cord than swap the parts.......

True, but you won't have a cool tool with neat buttons and stuff to play with... uh... I mean.. you won't have a valuable learning device to hone your skills.

I want 1. What size fuse? That'd be easier than wiring a hardstart in each time.

Do you have to connect the capacitor to test?

YOU GUYS FREAKING RULE.....I want to build the test cord. Looks fun. Local shop may have the replacement parts but ordering the generics above JIC.
