I have a whirlpool gold dishwasher that's has a blown thermal fuse on the pcb. This is the second fuse that has blown in 2 weeks.

I noticed when you replace the a door switch you have to by a kit. The kit comes with a new harness that has to be spliced in.

Question:

1) any ideas on why the fuse keeps blowing?

2) does the kit fix an issue with blowing fuses?

Did you replace the wires that come with the thermal fuse?

In the past I have experienced, high amp draw to blow the fuse, use to think it was a heater issue, but with those boards catching fire and buring up, check the board for physical damage and loose connections comming from the brown wire on the door switch. Thats my best guess, I've only seen 1 like that, but ended up replacing the harness and board to resolve the issue.

the owner was the one replacing the fuse.

i was just looking at the door latch and noticed it had a harness that connects to wire going to the fuse.

btw wire going to fuse is brown wire Comstock mentioned.

Just looked at fuse and it to has the harness replacing brown wire.

Shazaam! I think we've cracked it!

I was suspicious of that brown wire, but posed the question anyways just to see what came back.

Yep, I had situations in the past where I only had a different kit on the truck (same fuse different harness) and replaced only the fuse. Always gets a call-back. Now I always have all the different fuse kits with me.

I didn't replace a harness with a fuse a couple of months ago and got a call back. That's what caused me to be suspect of something else going on, along with customer telling me they had replaced the fuse twice.

I've ordered the fuse with harness.
