Complaint was Freezer and Beer Section not cold. Tech (not me!) replaced mainboard with board # wr55x10942. Refrigerator operation was too his satisfaction. House was empty so no feedback from cust. Get a call back, freezer is cold, beer section is warm. Goes back out, says evap fan is running super slow. Orders evap fan. I go to install evap fan and discover damper is closed. Opened up the damper, cust calls back the next day saying fridge is warm still. Im thinking its either misalignment on the hinge leaving the light switch open and making the board shut the damper, or original fan has taken out new mb. Or both. All I need is better diagnostic info for this board so I get in there with a meter and test it out. Ive searched and searched for it, and I swear it was on this site, but I cant find it. Can any of you venerable masters help me out?

I didn't read anything about testing/replacing ff thermistor...thermistors are usually suspect no. 1...  btw do  either of the resistors under the j2 connector  appear to be burned out? 

 

also btw the fan usually starts slow then speeds up after a minute or two

Check the instruction sheet that was with the board. If you have the earlier encder model you need to clip one of the wires when you install the new board. If you dont I believe the damper stays closed like it does with the light staying on. Check the serial numbers on the sheet.

It is the thermistor wire in pin 2 of the J1 connector.

Maytagman is correct, if your model is an encoder model...ie, it has knobs instead of digital controls, check the serial number and compare it with those listed on the instruction sheet provided with the board. As a matter of fact, here is the info courtesy of Sensei Reg:

Originally, it was a burnt pin on the compressor relay. Dead box. Also, it sure did turn out to be the wire on the J1 connector pin 2. Clipped the wire, plugged her in, and she was blasting cold air through the damper into the FF side. Thanks fellas.
