My dryer element burned out and broke.. I replaced it. When it burned out it melted the bearing so I replaced it along with the belt.
Still does not work.
With the door removed and the door switch shorted I can turn the "on" switch and hear the timer motor running in 2 of the 3 heating settings. It goes off when I release the swith. T

he drum motor does not turn.
The door switch checks out okay and the two thermal switches near the heating element also check out. Will a partially worn out control/timer cause the machine to not work at all? Is there a fuse of some sort I am missing that may have blown when the heating ellement blew?

Any ideas?

check & reset the House Circuit Breakers

House breakers did not throw at burnout and voltage checks at 240.

Did you test item #36 for continuity? It's located on the rear panel inside the dryer and is easily overlooked because it's not  on the heater housing.

If that is the thermal fuse up near the heating element then yes. The fuse I checked is on the upper left , looking into the machine. It is near the connection point of the heating element. If it is smowhere else I have not found it.

I checked that also and it appears good. I can short out the door switch and turn the start switch and hear the timer motor hum on 2 of the 3 heating cycles.

That's not what I am seeing. It comes up as some MediaFire site. I don't really want to downlod some weird file.

I have a wiring diagram with the machine.

 

So the fact that the timer motor hums but doesn't start up the main motor.. Is that an okay thing?

2) then you wouldn't need this wiring diagram

While the Dryer is set to run a Cycle,

and while someone presses the Start Button:

1) should be 120v AC from the Drum Motor Brown wire (M4) to chassis (a good ground)

2)  should  be  0v AC from the Drum  Motor  Tan  wire  (M5) to chassis (a good ground)

3)  should  be  0v AC from the Drum  Motor  Gray wire (M6) to chassis (a good ground)

could it be the motor you hear humming when you turn the start switch? sounds like the motor is bad.need a youtube video to be sure.

Sensei, thanks for that. I am at work this morning but I will go through the tests as soon as I can.

 

Kohai, I believe the hum comes from the timer not the drum motor. As I turn the heat setting dial through its zones the hum stops on one of them.
