The washer seems to be out of balance and banging during the spin and the clothes come out still very wet plus I'm finding bits of melted plastic residue from the plastic ring in the boot.  I've checked the shocks and they're not completely lose or floppy.  I reached in and I can compress and extend them with some force.  The left shock did have a small amount of fluid puddled under it but again it seemed to have decent resistance.  Or, should the shocks have much more resistance meaning I could not just reach under and with some moderate force compress and extend them?  The washer is in great shape and I've never had any problems until, and I don't know if this is related, about a month ago I was repairing a dryer vent leack and was cleaning around the dryer and tipped the washer to the “left” about 45 degrees to clean under and around it and that's about the time the trouble started.  Could this “left” tip be related to the left shock having a small amount of oil under it?

• Check your basket to see if there is a lot of play in the bearings or a broken tub support. The plastic may be shavings from the spin basket hitting the inside of the outer tub.

I don't know how much play there's supposed to be for the inner tub it’s kind of just floating somewhat loosely in there restricted only by the front rubber bellows seal.   I can lift it up a little and let it down and it floats in and out some.  There’s no sign of leaking water from the outer tub axel.  When I top one of the tub vanes and lift the inner tub up and let it down I can hear it clicking sound like two separate pieces clicking past each other so I'm pretty sure now one of the tri-web spider arms are broken. 

 

When I peal back the bellows from the inner stainless tub I can see plastic outer ring that the bellows is attached to and its worn with shavings stuck to it.  Are there any better disassembly/reassembly instructions than those found in the Service Manual?  Does the 25 year warranty on the inner tub include a broken spider arm or just the stainless tub itself?  Also, on the shocks, when I get this thing apart should I replace those?  Are they supposed to be really hard to compress and extend like a car shock or are these okay with the moderate amount of force I’m able to apply to manipulate them?

The tub warranty covers the tub and spider as 1 part. The warranty is for the part only, and youll have to pay the trip charge to have a tech come out. You will also need the rear tub half on your dime. I would hold off on the shocks till after youve replaced the tub and basket. You probably wont need them.
