Whirlpool Undercounter dishwasher DU810SWPQ4

DU810SWPQ4

Last week I ran a call on this dishwasher.

The timer knob was impossible to turn.

I took the door apart, checked the linkage and freed up the knob.

Sprayed a light coat of silicone lube on the knob. It was working when I left.

The timer turns freely. It was definately the knob sticking in the panel.

The customer just called and said it was doing it again.

There is no dirt build up on the knob or panel.

The d/w is only about 3 years old.

Has anyone run accross this problem?

I am going back this afternoon and was consider replacing the knob....

and the external Cam, Actuators, and Dispenser ?

everything works freely.  The knob seems to stick in the plastic with the door removed. Almost like it is a hair to big for the whole.

I thought may there was a bulletin or notice from WP about it.

Went by today.

Same trouble as last time. Knob was stuck in the control panel. Removed timer and had to tap knob to free it from the hole.

I guess I was brain dead or something because I couldn't figure out how to get it OUT!

Looks like a couple of tabs on the side but was unable to free it when I used a scewdriver to flex them outa the way.

I did free it up again but figure the KNOB replacement is the best idea.

Any words of wisdom on the knob removal??

Check the detergent dispenser linkage. Unlike the models that have electronic touch controls, this uses a timer cam and linkage to open the detergent dispenser.
